As part of the Silver Jubilee Celebration, National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, is organizing a national level video making competition on Polar and ocean realms.
The main aim of the competition is to raise awareness about the importance of Polar Regions and oceans in addressing climate change and sustaining biodiversity through creative, engaging impactful stories through videos.
Start Date: 01 March 2026 onwards & Last Date: 10 October 2026
- Participants must align their videos with any one of the following category/Theme:
- Creative Interpretation Category – “Impact of Climate Change on Polar Regions and Surrounding Oceans”
- Non-Fiction Category – “India’s Footprints in the Polar Regions and Surrounding Oceans”
- Eligibility:
- Open Eligibility: Open to all (Above 13 years of age)
This category includes videos presenting fictional, partially non-fictional, or artistic narratives that creatively explain the impacts of climate change on the polar regions and surrounding oceans.
This category includes research-based and informative videos highlighting India’s presence in the polar regions, focusing on scientific/ operational/ or relevant activities undertaken under the Indian Polar Programme to Antarctica, Arctic, Southern Ocean and Himalayas.
- Video Duration: 3–5 minutes.
- Video Format : MP4 (With Resolution : HD/4K, 1080p)
- Video Maximum size 1 Gb.
- Allowed Language: English or Hindi or any other language with English subtitles
The winners of the competition will be announced in the month of December 2026.

- 1st Prize: ₹15,000/- + Certificate + Prize
- 2nd Prize: ₹11,000/- + Certificate + Prize
- 3rd Prize: ₹9,000/- + Certificate + Prize
- Category 2: Non-Fiction
- 1st Prize: ₹15,000/- + Certificate + Prize
- 2nd Prize: ₹11,000/- + Certificate + Prize
- 3rd Prize: ₹9,000/- + Certificate + Prize
- The participants should have valid email id and bank account on their name to transfer the prize money.
- Participants may use their own recorded videos/ photos or the freely available resources under creative commons with due permission from the creator, wherever applicable and MUST acknowledge the sources used in the video at the end of their video.
- Use of artificial intelligence tools for the generation of full video is not permitted.
- An individual can submit only one video. Multiple entries from the same individual may be liable to disqualify the participant.
- The participants must share the video (entry) through Goggle drive link/ one drive link or any other cloud storage and must give Open Access to download the file, otherwise, the entries will be disqualified. The download of the submitted entries will be done, after the last date of the submission of entries.
- Judging Criteria:
- Relevance to Theme: How well the video aligns with the theme and conveys the message - 30%
- Creativity and Originality: Innovative storytelling and presentation - 25%
- Technical Quality: Visual, audio, and overall production quality - 20%
- Impact: Emotional resonance and ability to inspire viewers - 15%
- Call to Action: Clear message for conservation or awareness - 10%
- All interested participants are required to register with their basic details prior to submitting their entries.
- All submitted entries may be used for educational and outreach purposes, with due credit and acknowledgment to the creators.
- Submissions may be made either individually or as a team, with a maximum of three (03) members per team.
- The decision of the jury and organizers for the Video Making Competition shall be final and binding on all participants
