About OSI

The Ocean Society of India (OSI) is a professional society comprises of Scientists, Engineers, and Technologists from various academic institutions, research laboratories, scientific organizations, industries, and other related bodies in the field of Ocean Sciences, Engineering, Technology, and allied fields. The society has life members all over the country with local chapters at Cochin, Goa, Chennai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, Kharagpur, and Vizag.

The mission of the OSI is to provide a forum for sharing the knowledge and experience of individuals, research institutions, and industrial organizations working in the broad area of Ocean Sciences, Engineering, Technology, and allied fields. The motto of OSI is to inspire working professionals, researchers, students, and to empower the community to conserve and sustainably use the oceans and its resources.

The society promotes knowledge dissemination through educational programmes, awareness campaigns, ocean conservation, success stories, and good practices. The society confers theveterans who have largely contributed to the various fields of ocean sciences with various awards such as the OSI fellow and Dr. D. Srinivasan Endowment awards during every biennial OSI conference OSICON. At the same event, the society equally encourages the young researchers through the best dissertation, best PhD thesis, and best paper awards.
